[R]esidential utilitity rates do not typically include demand charges [so] tenants cannot directly save on their electricity bills with the addition of storage

Only common area meters (elevators etc), on specific rate structures, might benefit. Whether savings, if any, are passed down to tenants, will be anyone’s guess…

Missing here is mention of small-scale hydro. Why not divert some water in a stream to a pipe with head enough to drop into a pelton-wheel generator (or some such) and then return the water to the stream? Why create huge dams that ruin ecosystems when lots of small streams might be supplying local power?

The Federal government needs to step in. It is obvious that the states have fail to govern the issues responsibly, even in the face of local jurisdictions. The state of Oklahoma refuses to regulate knowing that it causes ( Induced Earthquakes ) to the tune of over 1100 annually. Property damage in the millions. “Our state is to reliant on the Oil (snake) industry”.

I really want a Leaf. They look so cool. I see them for around 10k-13k on Carmax and I’m really tempted to get one. Only thing holding me back is the range and my lack of knowledge about batteries. Like how often do you have to replace the battery in an electric car? How much would it cost to replace? Hoping the next Nissan Leaf models have around 150-200 mile range.
