Rick, I’m not sure if you actually read the article. It’s not about the capability of aerosols to affect climate. It’s about the capability of short-lived aerosols from small eruptions to reach the high atmosphere. Science is about testing things and confirming them. Aerosols from small eruptions generally don’t reach the high atmosphere (so, not such an odd assumption) but they can with the assistance of strong weather patterns. Of course, you knew all about this beforehand, though…

Ron, I think you’re off your rocker.. or getting a little too excited about a little thing.

From the post above: “Once in the high atmosphere, aerosols are capable of affecting global temperatures for a short time. If they don’t make into into the high atmosphere, like the aerosols from most small eruptions don’t, then they can’t affect the global climate.”

This is a very minor finding, and it doesn’t throw the consensus out of wack at all. This is a very minor factor. I’d recommend this post for putting this in more context: http://planetsave.com/2012/01/19/what-is-causing-global-warming/

As far as your other comment, “For global records, 2010 is the hottest year on record, tied with 2005.”: http://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-stopped-in-1998-basic.htm

“The globally-averaged temperature for May 2012 marked the second warmest May since record keeping began in 1880. May 2012 also marks the 36th consecutive May and 327th consecutive month with a global temperature above the 20th century average.”: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/

Not even the oil companies would agree with your statement about warming stopping. Doesn’t that give you a clue that you’re out of touch with the scientific consensus?

Maybe this is just one of the reasons why the Earth hasn’t warmed over the last decade despite the rise in CO2 as all the models were predicting…

And yet we still have nitwits tell us the “science is settled”. Oh my. What hubris. What folly…

Are you really that dumb, or do you just think we are?
